"Someday I may be old... but not today." Another segment of time closes and, without interruption, a new one opens. As one year changes to the next, many of us reflect on what we have experienced, treasuring the good and bemoaning the not-so-good. Now, approaching the end of our sixth decade of earthly life, the natural, normal, inevitable signs of aging may be grabbing more of our attention. Still, what's inside of our "earth suit" -- our perspectives, our attitudes, our heart, our spirit -- can continue to be transformed and renewed... continue to shine and grow. May we age gently and gracefully. ~ Kelena Mori , Dec. 31, 2020 |

Fellow Riders and Friends, we have been on this earth long enough to know that obstacles, detours, and treacherous terrains can appear without warning in our life journey. The current spread of COVID-19 is impacting and putting all of us at risk. As we go through this pandemic, please take diligent care of yourselves and your loved ones. Be smart, be wise, and be kind and helpful to others in need. KEEP THE FAITH. WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS.
*** REUNION UPDATE ***
Oct. 24, 2020 - Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, our 50th is cancelled until further notice. The following update was emailed to classmates on our current mailing list: Today, Oct. 24th, would have been "the Day" of our 50th Reunion... if not for COVID-19. And yet the cancellation of our special event is just one of many in the upheaval and widespread disruptions caused by the pandemic. We hope and pray that you and your loved ones have been able to effectively deal with the challenges.
Considering the continual changes and uncertainty, rescheduling a reunion event needs to be on hold. Staying focused on taking care of ourselves and those in our ohana is most important to all of us. Until the new normal is unequivocally safe, let's wait with patience and optimism. Updates will be sent out as needed. You'll Never Walk Alone
Remember our Class Graduation song? For our 50th Reunion Year, "You'll Never Walk Alone" is an appropriate remembrance. For the present global crisis caused by COVID-19, the song is also a viable message of hope and inspiration. Here are two versions of a song (originally composed for a show tune in the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel) that continues to convey the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
New Date: To be determined and announced. Venue: The Manoa Grand Ballroom in the Japanese Cultural Center (JCC). For updates on our milestone event, please check the Reunion News & Updates page on this website periodically. And if you are considering or planning to attend our 50th Reunion Banquet, please let us know (by email). This will help to maintain an ongoing headcount, as well as find out who we all can look forward to seeing again. The names of interested classmates will be added to the List on our Reunion Five-0 Attendees page.
