Hula Hoop Twist ContestThree guys and three gals stepped up to the challenge: to see who could flashback to their Young-Kid Days and still do the "hula hoop." Hips, okole, and a sense of rhythm -- now about 50 years older -- were summoned out of retirement to perform motions that were once "no problem" to do. Leonard Chinen, Curtis Cho, and Rodney Nohara donned their hula hoops to represent and defend the male ego. And Brenda Kong, Daisy (Au) Carpenter, and Doreen (Perreira) DeMello stood up for the Lady Riders. When the hoops finally stopped (the guys' hoops never really got started), co-hosts for the fierce competition, Ainsley Halemanu and Blanche (Mizuno) Ching, proclaimed Daisy and Doreen the Hula Hoop Twist Champions. Each won a well deserved massage gift certificate and dinner at Assagio's Fine Italian Restaurant. |
