Things You Need to Know for SIX-0

Directions to Fort Shafter and Hale  Ikena
Detailed directions, pictures of what H-1 exits to take, and a map are available on the Hale Ikena page of this website.

Carpool if You Can
It's a good idea to carpool, if you can. More fun, save gas, and easier check-in for entry into Fort Shafter.

Security Check Upon Entry to Fort Shafter
Because Fort Shafter is a military base, there can be heightened security at any time.  This past weekend we had to drive to a designated area near the main gate, park, and obtain a pass from military police who had set up a check-in office.  This was very unusual and we hope it's more relaxed on Six-0 day, but please be aware it could take a little bit of time to get processed.  You might want to leave a little earlier when coming to the party.

Please be patient, stay cool, and please have these items ready (stuff you have anyway, whenever you drive):
1.  Current driver's license
2.  Current vehicle registration
3.  Current proof of insurance
4.  Current safety check (pink copy)

If you are driving a rental car, please have the rental car agreement forms ready.

Cash Only on Event Day
Make sure you have enough of the green stuff for bar drinks and additional raffle ticket purchases.  And we will only be accepting CASH for event day registrations.

$70 for At-the-Door Walk-Ins
The $70 late registration fee will be enforced because Hale Ikena is charging an additional fee for setting up more seats and tables, above the headcount previously given.

Admission Policy
Only those who have paid the registration fee in full ($60 or $70) will be allowed entry to Six-0.  Day-of-Event walk-ins must pay full price regardless of  whether they eat dinner or not.

Doors Open at 5:00 pm
Due to a substantial reduction in our set-up time, we cannot allow anyone into the ballrooms until 5:00 pm.  However, there is ample room in the courtyard  and lanai area right outside the doors to meet and talk-story while waiting.   Also, you can purchase drinks at the bar on the mauka side of the building to  enjoy before the 5:00 opening.

Day After SIX-0
For those who want and can make it, drop by Ranch 99 (in Mapunapuna, across the freeway from Moanalua Gardens Park) anytime from noon to 3 pm on Sunday, August 12.  Very informal, relaxed, no agenda get-together.  Plenty of free parking and lots of food vendors selling ono-kine food.  This get-together will allow more time to catch-up with classmates and friends.

Hale Ikena, Not Hale Koa
Finally, be sure you come to Hale Ikena in Fort Shafter and NOT Hale Koa in Waikiki.  (Some have already asked us about how to get to Hale Koa Hotel!)
