Reunion News & Updates (in order of most recent)
October 24, 2020 - Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our 50th Reunion is cancelled until further notice. Hopefully a new date can be scheduled when a safe environment can be confirmed and maintained. The following update was emailed to classmates on our current mailing list:
Today, Oct. 24th, would have been "the Day" of our 50th Reunion... if not for COVID-19. And yet the cancellation of our special event is just one of many in the upheaval and widespread disruptions caused by the pandemic. We hope and pray that you and your loved ones have been able to effectively deal with the challenges.
Considering the continual changes and uncertainty, rescheduling our reunion event needs to be on hold. Staying focused on taking care of ourselves and those in our ohana is most important to all of us. Until the new normal is unequivocally safe, let's wait with patience and optimism. Updates will be sent out as needed.
May 13, 2020 - Because of the uncertainty of when the COVID-19 pandemic will be officially declared as no longer a health threat, our 50th Reunion on Oct. 24 is now postponed. We will update this website and send email notification to those on the Contact List when it is determined when the Manoa Grand Ballroom is open again and when our reunion event is rescheduled.
March 29, 2020 - Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our 50th Reunion has been moved to tentative status. We have been in communication with the Manoa Grand Ballroom and will continue to hold our reservation for Oct. 24 for the time being. As we move forward, developments in the current health crisis, good or bad, will determine the appropriate final decision on whether or not we have our Reunion as planned, postpone it for a future date, or cancel our event altogether.

2019
September 11, 2019 - In addition to the Reunion Banquet, there have been suggestions for having a "Reunion Week" -- that is, other activities, culminating with the Saturday Banquet. Thoughts and ideas are welcome, as well as the help needed to make ideas become reality.
September 10, 2019 - The security deposit was paid to officially reserve the Manoa Grand Ballroom on the 5th floor of the Japanese Cultural Center in Moiliili for the evening of Saturday, October 24, 2020. LET THE PLANNING BEGIN !!!
July 21, 2019 - Roosevelt will proceed with plans for their OWN 50th reunion event. McKinley and Kaimuki have also decided to keep their reunions, exclusive to their alumni. Mahalo to those of you who provided their input on the idea.
June 24, 2019 - A tentative and general timeframe for our 50th will likely be some time in the Fall of next year. A date in the second half of 2020 offers more time for the necessary planning and coordination.
Also, responses from classmates have been received regarding the idea of joining McKinley and Kaimuki to celebrate the 50th reunion of all 3 schools. As expected, there are different opinions. Because time is critical for planning, a decision based on a majority consensus will need to be made by July 20.
June 1, 2019 - Members of the Class of 70 from McKinley and Kaimuki contacted us to find out if Roosevelt would be interested in a joint event to celebrate the 50th. Citing smaller attendance numbers over the years, a combined gathering could potentially mean sharing the overall cost of the event, meeting minimum headcount requirements, and getting better rates and pricing.
May 28, 2019 - Responses are beginning to come in as the word gets around. Classmates still in the islands and others now living elsewhere have indicated interest in attending, helping, and/or making donations toward our 50th in prizes and monies. See the List below for who has responded thus far.
